PP 008 CD - One of the most well-rounded split albums ever, both bands complement each other well, as their styles vibe together perfectly. We have five songs from the Grind-Sludge lunatics CLITORTURE with unbelievable fast parts mixed with slow Sludge-Doom. Their songs are short (typical of grind) but they are well structured, making the most of it with constant riff and tempo changes. The vocals mix low, well-pronounced growls, with a maniacal high-pitch, this band is so dense and heavy, you won’t even notice they don’t have a bass player, they offer a truly unique and extreme listening experience. Next we have the ultra heavy Death Metal of GOREALITY, probably the best in the MASS-Death area. The style is a suffocating kind with lots of blast beats, slam riffs, an emphasis on technical skill and excellent vocals. Their songs manage a good length without becoming tiresome, around five or more minutes. This is a great album overall. Both bands manage to shine without overshadowing the other.

GOD’S TEMPLE of FAMILY DELIVERANCE deliver an equally cool take on sludgey heaviness. The first thing that grabs your eye is the gruesome cover illustration of warrior corpses impaled on stakes on some mist-enshrouded battlefield, which might fool you into thinking this is old school Death Metal circa 1985. But when you crack this album open, what oozes out are huge, winding trance states of serpentine math / Doom riffage and potent floor-tom / feedback workouts, divided into a four song cycle with each jam stretched out into a 10-17 minute epic. At their core, GTFD traffic in the same sort of sticky, feedback-infested 16 rpm hardcore sludge as Noothgrush, Grief, and old Melvins, but they infiltrate the tarpit riffs and gluey tempo with some intricate math-rock moves and unexpected melodic flourishes that are hidden beneath the detuned Doom. Extended bouts of amplifier feedback howl and proggy, angular guitar lines appear throughout as well, like some barbaric fusion of The Melvins, Eyehategod, and Don Caballero dunked in tar. Sometimes we just don't need band to come out with something original by mixing a bunch of disjointed ideas and other genres of music into our beloved genre of Death Metal, sometimes we just need a band to totally school us on how to execute the most brutal death metal in the world with all the conviction of an old school alcatraz lifer.
There is little originality to be found on this recording and none of what you will hear hasn't been attempted before; "attempted" being the key word. The difference between GOREALITY and other similar bands is in what each member brings to the table. Top-notch musicians with skills in the techniques of writing and performing the kind of aural experience that just leaves you in awe, this has all the right blends of influences melded into this brutal cannibalistic stew and you are ready to be delighted and chuffed. To sum up the experience of this album would be to say that what you get here is extremely brutal, undeniably barbaric, intelligent hack n' slash Death Metal with incredibly sharp, clear, loud, in-your-face heavy production all performed at a level far above the competition. I am telling you now as a fan that's heard it all before but still finds himself reaching for his Tomb Of The Mutilated, Effigy of The Forgotten, World Downfall, or Into The Grave discs when he needs a fix of top shelf sickness, that Perverse Depraved Indifference stands up perfectly well to any of those classics and many others from death metal's glory days but this is not 1991 it's 2007 and yeah, that's what I was starting to think was impossible. Not anymore.
